Sully’s is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker creating delicious ‘No Sugar Added’ chocolate with high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients.

  • How is our chocolate different?


  • Unlike others, we start from scratch, use premium ingredients, and transform raw cocoa beans into flavourful chocolate bars. The common, store-bought chocolate you grew up eating was more candy than chocolate.

    Our fine chocolate is made from premium, single-origin cocoa beans and has a sophisticated flavour profile. You may find fruity, floral, nutty, spicy, or caramel notes - especially in our dark chocolate.
  • Why did we remove added sugar?


  • Sugar has practically no nutritional benefit. ‘Added sugar’ is sugar a company adds to make food taste sweeter. Eating too much added sugar can contribute to weight gain, skin problems, heart issues, fatigue, tooth decay and more.

    Most Canadians consume too much sugar. We want to help you make a healthier choice while still eating delicious chocolate, which is why our chocolate has no added sugar.
  • Why do we source ethically & sustainably?


  • Slave labour, child labour, and environmental degradation are huge problems in the cocoa industry. We combat these by sourcing our fine cocoa from farms that don’t follow these practices and by paying multiple times the commodity (and ‘Fair Trade’) price so they never have to in the future.

    Our short cocoa supply chain goes from the farmer, to an importer, to us – which cuts out middlemen and puts more money in the hands of farmers.

The Journey

Hi, I'm Sully - the Founder of Sully's Chocolate!

I’ve loved chocolate ever since I can remember. Chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake, and especially chocolate bars. I had the opportunity to learn about the confectionery industry during the last few months of my corporate job, when the movement towards ‘better-for-you’ (e.g. less sugar, less calories) chocolate caught my attention - and got the wheels spinning.

After quitting my job, I went to a grocery store and bought a few ‘No Sugar Added’ chocolates – they did not live up to my expectations. In that moment, I was naïve enough to believe that I could make something better.

What I lacked in experience, I made up for in effort - I spent months researching the world of chocolate making and sugar substitution. I stumbled upon the craft chocolate industry which is all about creating chocolate from scratch (a.k.a. bean-to-bar) and doing so in an ethical and sustainable manner. As much as craft chocolate is about taste, it’s also about fighting the cocoa industry’s issues of slave labour, child labour, and environmental degradation.

After 9+ months, 50+ batches, and a 100-person blinded taste test, I felt that I had a great product. With all that hard work behind me, I now present you Sully’s – chocolate that tastes good, feels good, and does good.
